I'm Ross. Tattooing since I was seventeen, which was 2014, and black and grey almost the whole time.
Mostly big work: sleeves, backs, the kind of piece you book days for rather than an afternoon. Portraits I do from your own photographs. Dark fantasy and characters are my favourite thing to get sent, and faces most of all.
Big work I plan out. How many sittings, what we start with, what order the rest goes in. A large piece that gets improvised usually ends up looking improvised. Plans move anyway: some of it only makes sense once the first session is on skin, and people change their minds halfway through. Doesn't bother me.
Your idea stays yours. I'll say when something won't sit right on that part of the body or won't read from across a room, and I'll usually have a way round it. Then it's your call.

Had Ross do 3 portraits of my dogs and he came up with an incredible 4th piece… Ross even came in on his day off to make sure I would be finished and healed before my upcoming vacation.
